A PLACE TO GROW
On May 16, 2019, the Provincial Government updated and re-released the Provincial Growth Plan for the Greater Golden Horseshoe, now referred to as “A Place to Grow”.
Under Section 4.2.6 of the Growth Plan, the Province has prepared “Agricultural System” mapping for the Greater Golden Horseshoe.  This mapping is available for review at the following link:

Under Section 4.2.6.8 of the Growth Plan, the Provincial Agricultural System mapping is required to be implemented first by the County of Dufferin and then by the local municipalities.
The Provincial Agricultural System mapping would serve to remove the Rural land use designation from the Township of Melancthon Official Plan.  This could have implications on the expansion of existing non-agricultural uses in the Township of Melancthon.  If you are the owner or operator of an existing, lawful non-agricultural use in the Township of Melancthon, it is recommended that you contact the Township Office and/or make an appointment with the Township’s Planner to discuss the implications of the pending implementation of the Provincial Agricultural Mapping System
