Executive Summary

In October of 2024, the County of Dufferin, which is the County in which the Township of Melancthon is located, received ministerial approval of two Official Plan Amendments that were brought forth during the County’s Municipal Comprehensive Review (MCR) process. At this time, there is currently one remaining Official Plan Amendment requiring ministerial approval, which, it must be noted, has been submitted to the Ministry of Municipal Affairs and Housing (MMAH) for their final approval. In addition to the County Official Plan amendments that have been brought forth under the MCR process, notable updates to the Provincial Planning Statement (PPS) also recently occurred in October of 2024.

The Corporation of the Township of Melancthon (the “Township”), in an effort to proactively address the Official Plan conformity requirements outlined in the Planning Act (herein referred to as the ‘Act’), is now soliciting proposals from planning firms and/or individuals who have previous work experience undertaking large scale municipal policy updates. The planning firm and/or individual retained to complete this work will be required to lead and manage the updating process of the Township Official Plan. Further to that, the retained planning firm and/or individual will also be required to undertake the updating of the Township Zoning By-law as a means to ensure conformity with the newly developed Township Official Plan.

Those parties interested in submitting a proposal for the updating of both the Township Official Plan and Zoning By-law will be required to submit their proposal electronically via email. The electronic submission should be sent to the below staff member and include the subject line of Response to Request for Proposal – Township of Melancthon Official Plan and Zoning By-law Update.
