The Township of Melancthon works with the County of Dufferin for all matters of accessibility.
Mission Statement: To raise awareness of employees and citizens of the County of Dufferin about the accessibility needs of people with disabilities; communicational, intellectual, sensory, physical, and mental health related. To provide support and training to employees to ensure that all citizens enjoy a barrier-free County.
Vision Statement: To make the County of Dufferin the leading example of jurisdiction with full accessibility for all people with disabilities.
Accessibility Standards have been created as part of the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act. These standards are rules that businesses and organizations in Ontario need to follow to identify, remove and prevent barriers so that people with disabilities have more opportunities to participate in everyday life.

The Accessibility Standards for Customer Service (Ontario Regulation 429/07) came into force on January 1, 2008. As Public Sector Organizations, the Township of Melancthon must comply with the Regulation by January 1, 2010.
