2010 MUNICIPAL ELECTION
CANDIDATE REGISTRATION / NOMINATION
This notice is for anyone proposing to be a candidate in the Municipal Election on October 25, 2010. Candidates may file a registration / nomination form during regular business hours after January 1, 2010, with the last day for filing being September 10, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. A prescribed fee, which may be refundable, in the amount of $200.00 for Head of Council, and $100.00 for all other candidates payable by cash, certified cheque or money order, must accompany the registration / nomination form.
Candidates must not spend or raise funds for their election campaign until their registration / nomination form has been filed. The form is available from the office of the Municipal Clerk or Click here.
The Ministry of Municipal Affairs has prepared a "The Municipal Elections 2010 Guide" for further information.
TOWNSHIP OF MELANCTHON
COUNCIL VACANCY (COUNCILLOR POSITION)
Due to the resignation of Councillor Beverley Kumprey on February 4, 2010, the Council, pursuant to the Municipal Act, 2001, Section 263(1), is requesting written applications for the position of Councillor and is accepting applications until Friday, February 26, 2010 at 4:00 p.m. to fill this vacancy. Qualifications:
- resides in the Township of Melancthon or is the owner or tenant of land in the Township or the spouse of such owner or tenant;
- is a Canadian Citizen
- is at least 18 years old; and
- is not disqualified by any legislation from holding municipal office
